Here are some frequently asked questions:

And here are some answers:

How does shopping work with Hometown Provisioners?

Hometown Provisioners gives you unprecedented access and flexibility when shopping for local items. Our Market is all about making it easier for you to find and buy locally grown and locally made goods.

You can shop online anytime. We use an online ordering system because it makes shopping easier. It gives everyone instant access to the latest product information, including available quantities. So, you’ll always know what’s fresh and currently available. Our system is also designed to reduce the time it takes us to process orders, which means it helps us give you quicker, more efficient service.

Place your orders online by Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Our suppliers get busy filling your orders on Wednesday. Once all your orders are in, it takes our suppliers about a day to get everything ready… harvesting, crafting and packaging all your items. Yes, our growers pick fresh to order!

Thursday is delivery day. We collect all the items for your orders, and get them out to you on Thursday.

Will I have to buy vegetables I don't want?

You don’t have to buy anything you don’t want with Hometown Provisioners. When you shop with us, you get to make your own shopping decisions. You can:

  • order whatever items you want,
  • in whatever quantities you need, and
  • from whichever local farms and producers you like.

We are not a co-op or CSA where everyone gets the same box of stuff every week (and you don’t know what you’re getting until you get it).

Shopping with Hometown Provisioners means you have options.

How much does this service cost?

Hometown Provisioners charges a very modest membership fee of $25 per household, annually.

We charge a flat rate of $5 per order if you request personalized order delivery as opposed to picking up your order at our Packing Shed.

It is important to note that Hometown Provisioners is not a reseller. We provide shopping and delivery services, which include access to this Market and innovative order logistics support. Hometown Provisioners does not control or markup the price of any items offered for sale in our Market, and we do not add sales tax to order transactions.

Our suppliers sell their products directly to you through the Market.
Accordingly, our suppliers set their own prices and are responsible for collecting and reporting their own taxes. Product prices in our Market are all-inclusive, meaning they include the price of the product plus any and all relevant taxes.

Try us out! See for yourself how easy it can be to shop local. We invite you to place your first order as our guest, before officially becoming a member. (Service charges still apply.)

How do I pay for my order?

Payment is due upon delivery. We accept cash, debit and credit cards.

Our system requires that you provide debit or credit card information when you open an account.

When you place an order, you can elect to pay with your card on file, another card or cash. You will not be charged until your order has been delivered.

If you requested delivery to your door but you are not available when we get there, we will leave your package and charge the card we have on file for you – regardless of the payment method you selected when the order was placed.

How does delivery work?

When you place an order, you have delivery options. You can choose to have us bring your order to you or you can come pickup your order from our Packing Shed.

Delivery to your door

We will deliver your order directly to your door! You just tell us the address where you want it delivered and give us any special drop-off instructions (e.g., leave package on the back porch or under a certain tree). This way, you don’t even have to be there when we deliver.

Please note: Because many of our items are perishable and sensitive to temperature extremes, we ask that you please have a cooler handy.

Pickup at our Packing Shed

If you’d rather just come and pick up your order yourself, you can drop by our Packing Shed on delivery day.

Delivery to local charity

Want to share the love? We understand that helping our neighbors is an important part of rural life. So here’s a thought: you can shop locally with us and we will deliver your order to the local charity of your choice. Just provide the name and/or address of your chosen local charity during checkout. We’ll get it there for you.

Do I have to be home to accept delivery?

No, you do not have to be home to accept delivery if you would like us to bring your order to you. Just be sure to give us any special instructions about where you want us to leave your package (e.g., on the back porch). Because many of our items are perishable and sensitive to temperature extremes, we ask that you please have a cooler handy.

Why Support Local Growers and Producers?

Enhance your local economy: By purchasing locally grown and locally made items, you are providing stability to your local economy through the support of local businesses.

Save natural resources: Buying locally makes you an invaluable link in the process of saving resources such as fossil fuels and packaging materials. Also, we are right here in your community so the expense of transportation and delivery is kept to a minimum.

Provide learning opportunities: When you support local growers, you give them the means to help educate our community about the importance of sustainable agriculture.

Supporting a way of life: The number of small farms in the United States has decreased dramatically in the last decade. Please help us preserve an honest and worthy means of making a living.

We believe that small, diverse, family-owned farms and businesses contribute to society’s overall health.
